Vintage Fife & Nichols Semi-Hollow Thin Body Archtop Burled Walnut Laminate*619
This is a very mint 40 year old (at least) semi-hollow archtop jazz guitar in burled walnut veneer sold by the Fife and Nichols Music store in Hollywood, CA. They have been out of business since 1977, so the age is 40 or more years. The guitar was stored somewhere and probably never played. The pickguard shows few swipes. The Fife and Nichols music store was the instrument section of the large Wallich Music store in Hollywood and Los Angeles. The store was the hang- out for many famous players who congregated there and bought their instruments there- including Scotty Moore, Elvis, the Wrecking Crew, and many others. The company placed their tag on many of their instruments. In this case it is over the manufacturer of the guitar on the headstock. So we can't tell who made this. We assume this was a budget model. It plays nicely, has a straight neck with nice action. Rosewood fretboard. Slender tapered neck. Dual humbuckers. 3 way selector switch. Returns if description is inaccurate, or guitar is defective. Other reasons may incur a 5% restocking fee. Satisfaction is guaranteed. This is a very cool looking low priced jazz ax great for taking to a lesson, or to a risky job. Thanks. There are a few rare and old photos of some heavy weight players posing in Fife's below. This is a name that has sort of vanished and is recognized by some that were on the Hollywood/ LA scene in the 60's. Ships in a new Guardian case. This guitar was probably sold without a case.
