Undoubtedly the Gibson L-5 CES (cutaway electric Spanish) carved wood archtop, is one of the investment grade, gold standards for jazz players. Although currently in scarce supply (I am under the impression that Gibson is not making any this year as they get back on their feet), but the current prices are List: $15,009.00 and MAP: $10,599.00. This one is very slightly used, and received on consignment from a professional player. It has been well cared for and is without any bops, or scratches. It does show some minor signs of play on the pick guard. Overall is a 95% near mint condition piece. The top is quartersawn carved spruce, with sides and arched back carved figured maple. The neck is a full C, made of maple and walnut with a stinger type black headstock paint job. Ornate, classic inlay on the front of the headstock in MOP. The pickups are 57 Classic humbuckers, each with its own tone and volume control. 3 way pickup selector switch. The finger board is a large radius ebony board with ornate binding. Carved ebony inlaid bridge with ABR-1 saddle. Engraved tailpiece made one by one for each guitar produced. This one was part of the Gibson Crimson line (one of a kind individual pieces), which has been discontinued for now. Comes in its OHSC, with the usual packing slip and COA.
