This is one of the latest run of D'Angelico guitars- laminate-semi-hollow body, electric jazz guitar. Dual hum bucking pickups, plain tail piece, adjustable bridge, thin body, tapered neck, electric guitar. Fancy D'Angelico headstock. Rosewood large radius fretboard. The story of D'Angelico guitars from the hand made creations in Brooklyn, till now, is a long and convoluted one- but to suffice it to say, the name was licensed and used to produce jazz guitars of many varieties, with the common thread of the D'Angelico headstock and logo. The reincarnations have been some good, and some not so good. These are Korean made, but are fine pieces at astounding low prices. This most recent line has really expanded the offerings. This is one of the more expensive models, the Excel EX-SS, retailing with an MSRP of $1799.00 including an OHSC. This is a perfect piece as a beginning jazz style box, or one to take as a back up on a job. The great Frank Vignola has been playing one in his recent teaching videos. Please see photos below.
